Google+ has been enjoying good feedback since its redesign back in November. The latest addition to Google’s social platform is another step towards making it more of a content-focused rather than social-focused network. Of course all of its social aspects remain, which is why it is still a social network. However, its newest features are yet another testament to the importance of high quality, in demand content.

Google+ presents Google+ Create, a platform to highlight content from the best content creators on the network. It celebrates their valuable contributions and allows them to get their work seen in front of significantly larger audiences. Each highlighted content creator receives access to new features before other users, has his/her own private channel and are welcome to enjoy verified profiles. Google+ is focusing on highlighting those with passion and interest. It certainly behooves them to highlight and promote their most exceptional content creators as they are shining examples of the best of the best to be found on their network.

Google+ Create’s Featured Collections include such diverse themes as Job Search & Career Advice, Motorcycle Art, Recipes, Vintage Fashions and Design Ideas and DIY meaning most product and/or service-based businesses can manage to discover niches relating to what they do/what they have on offer. And while this may be an initiative based on an individual content creator basis (rather than focusing on businesses and brands, specifically), it is still a promising opportunity for your company. Who are the most talented photographers, writers or artisans in your firm? Who is your creative director? Your art director? Gather your best and potentially best content creators and get them on to Google+ if they are not already on the network. Come up with a plan for them to share, engage and get active. If you have a social media manager, you can even have he or she manage their individual Google+ pages for them, they will only need to consistently provide the material to be featured. Be sure that the link between these individuals and your brand is clear and be sure to share their content using your brand’s own Google+ page for greater promotion and to emphasize the link between creator and brand.
